Project Overview
Oomiak supplied and installed three energy efficient water cooled ammonia chillers for Baiada’s Hatchery in Tamworth.
The new chillers replaced existing Freon air cooled chiller systems with the objective to achieve:
- Improved electrical efficiency resulting in lower operational cost
- Reductions in both direct and indirect CO2 emissions
- Increase capacity to meet increased air volume requirements
The three packaged ammonia chillers were fitted with variable speed drive screw compressors, PHE evaporators and condensers and are fully packaged complete with integral control systems.
The new ammonia chillers connected to the same chilled water primary circuit which was fitted with upgraded circulation pumps.
The new chiller packages are controlled by a package mounted electrical control panel incorporating an on-board control system and controls the operation and functioning of the package and communicates to the existing PLC control system.
The energy efficiency features of the chiller systems include low condensing conditions, variable speed drive compressors to meet part load conditons and variable speed cooling tower fans with floating head pressure control.
Each chiller is housed within a weatherproof plant enclosure incorporating ventilation fans and louvres.
