Project Overview
Oomiak was engaged to fabricate and install chilled water piping for the Cloudbreak Mine for the Pilbara Infrastructure Project in Western Australia. The chilled water piping is used as part of the cooling system to maintain oil temperatures on the hydraulic equipment as part of the ore crushing plant.
Given the remoteness of the project, it involved an extra level of planning to meet client outcomes, including Quality Assurance, OH&S, Environmental Management and Employee Relations.
The first phase of the project involved the fabrication of 45 pipe spools of various sizes in the Oomiak Tullamarine workshop. The work was undertaken by Oomiak’s team of experienced welders under the supervision of team leader Michael Williams.
The second phase of the project involved the installation of the pipework on site.
