Project Overview
Due to an increase in product throughput and quality control demands, Baiada Poultry were seeking to upgrade the capacity of the air conditioning plant serving their production and packing areas whilst improving safety for their personnel at their Wulkuraka facility.
Oomiak were contracted to address the following requirements:
- General Packing Room areas to be maintained at or below 4°C
- Removal of ammonia as the direct source of cooling within the high occupancy rooms
In response Oomiak replaced the existing direct ammonia evaporators with new glycol circulated air coolers designed to achieve the stringent temperature requirements. The units are fed with a safe food grade glycol cooling solution from a new reticulation system cooled via a ammonia plate heat exchanger located safely in the existing refrigeration plant room and served by the existing refrigeration plant.
The glycol under ceiling units are controlled by varying the glycol flows, glycol temperature and evaporator fan speeds to ensure peak loads can be met while enabling the plant to minimise drafts and reduce energy input at periods of lower operational loads.
Baiada Poultry is a privately owned Australian company which provides premium quality poultry products throughout Australia. The Wulkuraka facility is a processing plant located in Ipswich, Queensland. The process line in the plant is highly automated and is continually updated with new technology and equipment to ensure a first class quality product.
