My Role in Oomiak
With over 7 years’ experience in the industrial refrigeration industry, Arthur Bougiouklis has grown to be an instrumental member within the Oomiak team.
“Starting with Oomiak back in 2017, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my journey within my dynamic team,” says Arthur.
Throughout his time at Oomiak, Arthur has continuously applied himself and focused on building his skillset, highlighting the positive impact he has had.
“Starting as a Technician within the VIC Customer Service team, I’ve seamlessly transitioned into my role as Site Supervisor through the countless opportunities and experiences Oomiak has provided me with,” says Arthur.
“In my previous role, I primarily worked on installations within the commercial industry, so moving into the industrial sector was challenging but the knowledge and skills I have gained are invaluable. This has most definitely paved my career in Oomiak’s Capital Projects (CP) team,” says Arthur.
Arthur applies a positive outlook to every opportunity he has been presented with and continues evolving with Oomiak though his journey.
“Transitioning into the Capital Projects team, I invested my time in improving my skills and experience to ensure I was equipped to take on the role of Site Supervisor. This included:
- Working alongside experienced Capital Projects team members to gain a better understanding of best practices at Oomiak
- Expanding my knowledge and skillset through a variety of training
- Familiarising myself with the various procedures and platforms in place at Oomiak
- Establishing a mentorship to further grow my knowledge and proficiency in the industry
- Experiencing Project Management on various smaller jobs during my time at Oomiak
“My overall experience has placed me in a fortunate position, and I feel grateful that Oomiak have given me the tools and opportunities I need to succeed in my role as Site Supervisor,” says Arthur.
With a strong passion for the industry, Arthur’s accomplishments highlight his successful career thus far at Oomiak.
“Although I have been in the industry for 7 years, I constantly find myself interested to learn more. This can be highlighted through my transition from commercial to industrial refrigeration as well as my career progression into my role as Site Supervisor.
During my time as Site Supervisor, I have established and maintained great working relationships with both my team and our clients. I value open and clear communication as this will only benefit the overall efficiency and progress of the project. This then assists in building trust and transparency with our clients which is crucial to the future success of Oomiak,” says Arthur.
Referencing his resources and knowledge, Arthur’s day is typically centred around ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive work site to produce the client’s desired outcome. The daily tasks he undertakes to ensure this include:
- Establishing a program for his team to maintain efficiency on-site
- Ensuring he is adequately staffed to achieve overall project milestones
- Referencing relevant drawing and documentation to ensure efficient delivery of the project
- Problem solving when any complex situations arise
- Ensure the accurate reflection of the design in the delivery of the building
- Communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the overall project delivery and success
The culmination of Arthur’s efforts and development has led to him having his hand across some successful projects with some notable companies. Some of these being Coles Ocado, Montagues, Pinata Farms, Barry Callebaut, Asahi and more.
Best Thing About Working at Oomiak
“For me, it has to be the culture and team as a whole. It’s a great, positive and enjoyable environment to be a part of, and it’s genuine – everyone is looking to help each other out.
Seeing the company grow over the years has also been fantastic to witness. I believe Oomiak’s growth over the years is a testament to the people who form the business and to share this with our ever growing team is very exciting for the future of the business,” says Arthur.
My Career Tips
“My time at Oomiak has taught me the importance of invaluable opportunities, as they are the experiences which have formed a crucial part to my career progression.
I have been fortunate enough to be exposed to individuals with great project management skills, I have learnt about best practice procedures, understood the value of client relations, and most importantly, have seen first-hand the importance of leading a team to deliver projects. These skills have inspired me into the role I have today and continue to fuel my passion to learn more,” says Arthur.
Familiar with the diversity of the industry, Arthur understands the importance of adaptability and remains positive when faced with adversity.
“Remining adaptable within our industry is vital. Oomiak offers a variety of services meaning we tackle a broad range of projects hence why it’s so crucial to remain adaptive in our ever-changing industry.
Similarly, working within the Capital Projects team, we liaise with various industries and trades, so being able to navigate all their differences is an important skill to have. Being ready for anything is a critical mindset for me,” says Arthur.
Pairing this with regular training, Arthur continues to thrive while continuously developing his skillset to reinforce his strengths and fine-tune his abilities.
“In addition to the guidance and mentorship from Mark Holden and other key team members, there’s a big emphasis placed on training to remain educated and up-to-date on industry standards.
This includes all on-site and licensing training such as Working at Heights, First Aid, Breathing Apparatuses, Rigging and much more. Through this I believe I’ve significantly improved my overall understanding of safety on-site, my performance, and my overall efficiency.
My biggest strength is that I thrive when faced with a challenge, so my transition into industrial refrigeration saw the increase in not only my skillset and eagerness to learn, but more importantly my confidence which has taken me to where I am today,” says Arthur.
Arthur continues to prove his tenacity and ability – we’re looking forward to seeing him continue to kick goals and exceed expectations!
