Austrak built a business park in Somerton, Victoria.
Oomiak’s challenge was to design and build a refrigeration system for the Austrak purpose-built facility for Kraft that:
- Provided optimum storage conditions for quality product
- Achieved absolute reliability with accurate control and detailed reporting
- Required minimal attendance
- Incorporated in-built redundancy limiting risk to product and continuity of business
- Achieved compliance with all aspects of Factory Mutual (FM) insurance requirements
Oomiak delivered a refrigeration system that:
- Used packaged chillers and reticulated glycol for reduced refrigerant charges and minimal field maintenance
- Incorporated a comprehensive monitoring (SCADA) system for the control and management of all aspects of equipment and storage conditions. The system also provides energy management for the broader site, including generator back-up and power use trends
- Implemented minimal risk of plant failure through the use of multiple equipment for all critical items, such as air handling units, pumps and chillers
The outcome for Austrak and its high-profile client is a plant that meets all initial objectives while delivering usability, efficiency and the satisfaction that comes from a job well done.
