Project Overview
Operating from a purpose-built facility in Epping, VIC, the Melbourne Market is Victoria’s wholesale fruit, vegetable, and cut flower trading centre.
With roughly 2,750 businesses using the 67-hectare site, the Melbourne Market provides the link between growers, wholesalers, and retailers, in the fresh produce supply chain.
Back in 2013, Oomiak designed and installed the central refrigeration plant that services the entire facility. Now gaining two new tenants, Oomiak were engaged to install two additional double cool room packages to the facility.
Tapping into the existing tertiary glycol reticulation circuit, each cool room is also served by:
- Bi-flow under ceiling air cooler
- Circuit comprising isolation and control valving and local temper loop pumps
The cool rooms are located in the National Flower Centre within the Melbourne Market, keeping the new tenant’s flowers and produce at optimal conditions.
Completing a similar project for the Melbourne Market back in 2019, the Oomiak team were aware of what was required at the Epping facility.
